Cookbook Advisory
There are two ways to make one, and they’re different businesses rather than different prices. One trades your capital for control and the whole margin. The other trades control and most of the margin for reach and somebody else’s risk. There is also a middle, and there is the answer that says wait.
Ten questions. Answer them the way things actually are rather than the way you’d like them to be — the recommendation is only worth as much as the answers are honest.

Every path starts with a proposal — the concept and its argument, the chapter architecture, a dozen recipes tested and written, comparable titles, a sample chapter. A publisher won’t look at a book without one, and you can’t make a good book of your own without exactly the same work.
So the decision in front of you today is smaller than it looks. You don’t have to choose between a publisher and a print run yet. You have to decide whether to build the proposal — and then make the real choice in the spring, holding it, knowing considerably more than you do now.
